ONDANOVA exists because business telecoms is sold badly. Not fraudulently, usually — just badly. A price quoted without seeing the building. A system specified from a form. Numbers ported on a Friday by someone who has gone home. Then a renewal letter, eighteen months later, from a company you could not name a single person at.
We had both worked inside that model and could see precisely why it produces the result it does. When an engineer is measured on installs closed and a salesperson is measured on units shipped, nobody in the chain is measured on whether the thing works in a year. So we started something where the same two people do the selling, the designing and the answering of the phone afterwards — because then there is nowhere for a bad decision to hide.
Independence was the second decision, and it followed from the first. We are not a franchise or a badged reseller of one network. We put calls on Gamma Horizon because it is the best hosted platform we have worked on. We fit Ericsson-LG iPECS and Cisco Desk Phone handsets because those are the two ranges we trust on a desk for five years. We can put your SIMs on any of the four UK networks, and we choose based on where your people actually lose signal. No supplier pays us to prefer them.
The third decision was to stay small on purpose. Growth in this industry usually means hiring a layer of account managers between the customer and the people who know anything. We would rather have fewer customers who can ring a director and be recognised. It is a slower business model. It is also the only one where the promises on a website like this one stay true.
So what you get is narrow and deliberate: phones, connectivity, mobile and the cloud services around them, supplied by an independent, supported by the two people whose names are on it. That is the whole company. We think it is enough.
